Visions of Sugarplums
Archive: Gay Themed
I don't think I'll ever forget Visions of Sugarplums. The naked guy in the Santa camp was fair warning that it couldn't be a very good movie. But I have affection for certain kinds of shoddiness.
For a long stretch the sound quality is worse than any cheapo exploitation movie I've ever seen. It's Christmas Eve and (director/screenwriter/star) Joey's minister dad and choir director mom are coming for a surprise visit. Joey's never come out to them and doesn't plan to now. So he tells his lover Bruce to go stay elsewhere and hides his stuffed animals and the photos of him and Bruce arm-in-arm. Parents arrive, find the hidden photos; dad hits Joey with a bible and they leave.
Nothing wrong with the plot but nothing right with anything else. The movie was so thriftily made and tearfully sincere that I suspect the story was autobiographical and something the guy felt compelled to tell.
With the worst drag act ever recorded on film.

I'm a happily gay atheist. Homophobic, racist comments and conversion attempts are deleted.
Disagreement is fine but hate speech won't be tolerated. Even if you share my prejudices I'd rather you not insult other people who leave comments here.
This is a personal hobby and shouldn't be confused with a more general sort of public forum or chatroom. you'd like to know more about me check about page.
