Homosexual Marriage in 1953

Gay marriage was the cover topic of a 1953 issue of early homophile magazine One. Gay culture of the time is opaque to me. I imagine they felt they deserved it but knew it was impossible. In the heterosexual press it would?ve only been the bottom tier sleaze tabloids that might feature something like HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGES! as a shocking tale of perversion. I wonder if any of the articles presented the view that same-sex marriages were an unseemly emulation of straight people.
