Many of the same kids who look to Hesse, Rand and Kerouac for the meaning of life buy Rimbaud or Flowers of Evil because they hope to find a mirror for their own murky youthful angst, sense of rebellion. Since I turned to Nietzsche and H.L. Mencken I find their self-involved self-pity distasteful.
