Ronald Isley & Burt Bacharach
Archive: Listening
When Gordon handed me Isley meets Bacharach I was more than a little skeptical. Aging R&B singer and last composer of traditional pop composer get together for an hour of dullness was my suspicion.
I was wrong. Ronald Isley?s voice is still good and his handling of the material is always appropriate. Nor surprise really Bachrach?s arrangements are on spot. Oddly I?ve as much as I enjoy hearing Bachrach?s songs casually I didn?t warm to them the couple of times I tried listening to earlier music produced by him.
Probably a sign of an expansion of my own taste, nothing about the CD sounds as though he?s changed.
