Be assured this tale of gay victims and gay survivors is historically accurate in its details of Titanic culture on board in all classes, and in its details of the sinking and rescue.
This novel is reviewed with praise at several Titanic websites for both its accuracy as well as for its rather... more info

I picked up 'Tough Guys' because I liked the cover. Standing in the aisle, I started reading 'A Taste for Cherries' by Taylor Siluw? because the title entrigued me. He set a sexual tone, without being graphic or smutty about it. It was erotic. I bought the book. I loved it!

The Leatherman's Handbook is truely remarkable. This book being published back in the 70's, has some strange lingo. I found it to be a bit funny myself. This book uses stories to illustrate the chapter topic. For a portion of the chapter Larry talks about the topic and then goes into "story telling"... more info

As a musclebear porno queen, I read lots of gayrotica in magazines and books. So when I read gay prose that reads like gay poetry really sucking me into the language of sex, I get off on telling my friends. Corporal in Charge, which I read first in a magazine, is as rhythmic as anything Vachel... more info

Even in these days of video and DVD, I think there's nothing better under my bed than a good filthy book because the words bring up my favorite images in my head.
Video is good but those video bears are the bears I see.
On the other paw, reading like "Tales of Bear Cult" conjures up the bears of... more info

The title story "Rainbow county" is amazing in this book that was a "Staff Recommendation" at A Different LIght Bookstore when it came out. I remember. I worked there then. I recommended it. And time proves me right. Muscle stories, soldiers, you name it. Some stories you forget. Some stick in your... more info

They say you can't judge a book by its cover, but this one you certainly can. These are stories about young, handsome, men in the prime of their life who are out to have a good time. There are 23 erotic stories by 21 authors, enough to choose a few favorites from. Three stories are presented here by... more info

This is the most interesting book I've read in 2002. This novel was probably very interesting to the people who obviously lived it when it was first published, but it is maybe even more interesting now as time goes by, because it is like finding a manuscript from a lost civilization nobody talks... more info
Bar Stories
from Alyson Publications
Price: $12.95
Customer Review:
Variations on "And then I looked across the bar and saw HIM" in an easy, satisfying read. The collection amply explores the bar theme with selections of diverse style and tone, and these stories generally surpass the quality of gay fiction found in glossy mags (but aren't quite Edmund White,... more info

This book is a classic -- though fiction, it is one of the seminal texts of butch homosexual masculinism and a definite "must" for any serious leatherman's library. It is a riveting and well-written tale of one young man's self-discovery of machismo and brotherhood through the dark, primal, intense... more info

On the web I found the Erotic Authors Association which has nominated "Jacked" as the "best erotic anthology of the year written by a single author." A nomination I second, because the writing in this hottie of a book was not ground out on a deadline, or by a bunch of writers, but is a collection of... more info

This is not a "how to write dirty stories" book, as it is more the method and ideas leading erotica writers take to writing their stories. Not only do they each have their own thoughts on how they write their stories, and what "works" for them and what doesn't, you get some idea of what they're like... more info

By chasing down lots of interviews, author Fritscher manages to have several friends of Mapplethorpe compose their thoughts of robert and his photographs. The beauty of this book is the multiple voices speaking which Fritscher takes the time to present to honor Mapplethorpe. He could have had the... more info

This year's volume of erotica is similar to the others in that it contains a couple stories that really turned me on, some that were mildly arousing, and a couple that were just hard to read. The problem I find is that some of the stories are to experimental and poetic. I'd rather not read about the... more info

This book is a fine read from start to finish. Of course, it has its ups and downs, but all the bears speaking are valuable voices. Editors Les Wright and Jack Fritscher dare to go bright and brave into the history and politics of bear identity--as do the other writers. The Bear History Project does... more info

The articles about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington alone should be required reading for all U.S. history classes. Kenneth Starr would have gone wild looking at the private lives of our country's two greatest leaders.

When it comes to the American novel of the "sawth" with women drawling out their best dialog, quips, and wisdom, this funny little novel has more storytelling power, plot, and dialog than most, and doesn't let its gals (2 white, 1 black)turn into stereotypes. It's as good, if not better than fried... more info

Inside the priest factory.
The media continues, even today, to be full of news of priest molestation of and priest abuse of children. I found this novel, "What They Did," to be amazing because it is totally insightful as to how and why Catholic seminarians had their psycho-sexual development... more info

Overall, I found this to be an enjoyable book. There is a wide variety of styles and content; each reader should be able to find at least one story to suit him or her (for those of us who are proud members - no pun intended - of the "Girls Who Like Boys Who Do Boys Club, Inc."). My personal favorite... more info

Recently I read that Virginia Woolf wrote a letter from a mental nursing home stating, "I feel my brains, like a pear to see if it's ripe: it will be exquisite by September." Now I understand the photograph of the pear with the bite out of it on the cover of this clever book of short fiction. The... more info
