What happened?:

As a long-time fan of all the artists that make up Fourplay, I was particularly disappointed in Journey. While the playing is high-quality, the compositions are not. The songs sound forced, as if they were in a hurry to release another album. These guys are capable of much better (as they have shown many times over the last 30 years.) If you haven't bought a Fourplay album previously, skip this one. Buy Heartfelt instead. If you are a Larry Carlton fan and you like "the blues," buy Sapphire Blue.

Fourplay - Journey:

I have bought all of Fourplay's albums since their first in 1991. I am not impressed at all with this latest release. What has happened to Nat's soulful vocalsThe title track Journey does not sound like it should be on a Fourplay album ! A couple of the tracks sound like they were left over from the 4 album as that C.D had a particular dullness to it and this comes out in these tracks. I always await a new Forplay release with excitement. Sadly this fails to excite.

The best CD from Fourplay, and best recorded CD, ever.:

In my opinion, this is the best CD from Fourplay, and it is perhaps the best recorded CD I have heard, period. There is something going on here as it sounds almost like SACD. There is a lot of air around the musical instruments, and not a hint of edginess or digital like sound. It sounds very analog like, and is simply a stellar recording.
