One of Chapin's Best!:
I work with a colleague who went to high school here in CT with Mary Chapin Carpenter. My colleague once told me that even back then MCC was "really into her music." We've been the beneficiaries for more than a decade of MCC's dedication, focus, and wonderful music. Her latest is right up there, IMHO, with "Come On, Come On" and "Stones in the Road," my favorite MCC CD's.

Powerful message, beautiful melodies:
There is no better singer/songwriter out there today than Mary Chapin Carpenter. Between Here and Gone ranks right next to Stones in the Road in its emotional and lyrical quality. It's impossible to think of another album or artist that uses language to express feelings as eloquently as Mary Chapin. Although there aren't a lot of "rockers" on this album, there are several mid-tempo songs which have a mesmerizing mellow groove and are immensly satisfying. It is important to remember the purpose of am Mary Chapin Carpenter album. This is not back ground music, this is music to focus on and think about. As good as they were in their time, Stones in the Road and Come On Come On were recorded at a time when there was still potential for Carpenter to be played on mainstream radio.
