5 for series 1 and 2 together; 4 for this one alone:

I agree with reviewers who have called this series more mean spirited than series 1, but I disagree that this is a bad thing. What happens in series 2 is a natural progression in the world of Wernham Hogg. Brent does indeed get what he deserves, so why does it bother us to witness that? Perhaps we want to continue to laugh at him and don't like the fact that we are forced to feel pity for him in the concluding moments of the final episode. Mean-spirited and mercenary:

It's clear that Gervais and Merchant ran out of ideas and comic momentum for this heretofore *wonderful* show. I found the first series the best comedy I've ever seen (bar Fawlty Towers, of course) -- everything from conception to script to acting to direction was a brilliant observation on the worlds of us office drones. Sublime...:

I first caught this show when I was working over in London and have been stuck on it ever since. How trajic that we will only get two seasons of what is undeniably a masterpiece. I'm buying both seasons and putting them up on the mantle alongside the other comedies I own that are two sublime for words ("Office Space", "Airplane!", "Shafted!", Bottle Rocket", "The jerk" and pretty much the entirety of Monty Python material available on disk...
