Stop Living in the Past:
It must be one of the biggest disappointments in an artist's career to hear fans say, "Why doesn't this album sound like your last album?" C'mon, people...who wants 5 copies of FTE? The lady got married, had a daughter, took some time off, and grew her hair out (sweet!), so wouldn't you expect to hear a different sound? Tons of posts on Amazon have said that "Afterglow" is boring. I'd say "boring" is putting out the same style of music from CD to CD.

Great Comeback:
"Afterglow" is Sarah McLachlan's first studio album in six years. Such quality heard on this album makes it worth the long wait. She proves that she's evolved a lot in her music since "Surfacing". Every track showcases her beautiful soprano voice. Her guitar and piano playing live up to her voice. She writes every song lyric from her heart, which is showcases wonderfully. Sarah's new album is somewhat bland. Her voice is beautiful and musicianship near perfect. So what's missing? I've played Afterglow many times for myself at home and also for Mclachlan fans/non-fans. I've compared Afterglow to Sarah's previous releases (over and over) by myself and with guests. So, what's the consensus? Well, Afterglow isn't atmospheric or insightful. The music feels like mainstream "radio friendly" pop and the lyrics are very boring. I think she plagiarized my 14-year-old daughter's diary...more info
