Fresh Scaire:

I am a huge fan of the previous themed releases from Mannheim Steamroller (ie. Fresh Aire Christmas & Meets the Mouse). While "Halloween" does not exactly live up to the usual Chip Davis standard, it is nonetheless an intriguing experiment in the macabre with its own merits.

The Chip Davis "derangements" of such classics as "Night on Bald Mountain" and "Ride of the Valkyries" - standard fare on such a release - are satisfactorily done, if not completely fresh. "Rite of Twilight," a Twilight Zone... more info

Another Superb Mannheim CD:

Chip Davis has another great CD in our hands. Actually a 2 CD set. One is the Mannheim treatment of songs most often linked to Halloween. The other are "EFX" tracks, such as 3 "Enchanted Forest" tracks. Much better than the spooky sound records from the 60's. Chip suggests that you put both discs in a multi disc player and hit "shuffle" for a good Halloween Party Mix.
Chip also added two cuts from previous "Fresh Aire" recordings:
"Z-Row Gravity" from Fresh Aire 5, and "Crystal" from F.A. 4. Not... more info

It's not That bad...:

It's not scary. There, you have it, that's what it all boils down to. With a creepy cover like that, you'd think it would be terrifying! It's not, but it's not bad, either!

A lot of the songs sound kind of like low-budget MIDI tunes that are sometimes embedded in websites.. but I think that might have been what the Steamroller was going for. Kind of like a broken Music Box? Anyway, only a few sound low budget, the rest sound good, even a few are a little "eerie" but at the same time, there's a lot that... more info
