The best surprise I've had in a long time:

I had never heard of Eva Cassidy until I received a package from my brother in the mail. It contained Songbird and Live at Blues Alley. I was stunned by both. Eva's interpretations of these songs grabbed me from the start and didn't let go. This is particularly impressive given the wide range of musical styles she covers.

When I read the liner notes and learned of her backgraound, and of the fact that she was taken too early, I was saddened and couldn't help but feel that I had missed something... more info

A True Artist with an unbelievable voice........:

I had never heard of Eva Cassidy until my attention was captured by a soul-touching rendition of Over the Rainbow. I stopped what I was doing and turned to see who I had just heard singing. It was the Nightline story about a beautiful, young singer who had tragically passed away at the tender age of 33, but left behind a collection of songs that stir emotion and tug at your heart. I believe I'm writing this more for myself than for readers who can look at five hundred previous reviews. I was so moved by Eva Cassidy's songs that I want to share my thoughts with everyone. I recieved a copy of 'Songbird' from my sister in law. I rarely prefer a second version of a familiar song so I was hesitant to even listen to this CD which included some old favorites.
