"Progressive" Propaganda:

OK--I'll be the party pooper here. I got this CD for my 5-year-old boy/girl twins due to the glowing recommendations by others on this site. My anxiety first appeared when I came across Gloria Steinem's album dedication in the liner notes, and increased when I read how the album was designed to give "the movement toward true equality between the sexes a gentle push in the direction of the future." I don't care if I'm pretty at all....:

I still have my old vinyl copy of this, and subjected former housemates to it. Now I have two daughters and the cd version - I will always listen to this until I'm a great-great granny! This record was so much more to me than entertainment when I was a kid - it was probably a big part of why I felt that whatever it is, it can be done - and by me, gasp - a *girl*! Begs more questions than it answers:

I read a ton of the reviews and decided to check this CD out at the library to listen to it before buying. I was not one of the nostalgic parents who remembered this from childhood. After listening to it, I decided not to buy it. I REALLY did not care for this CD. Not only did I feel there was too much talk and not enough music, but the talk itself begged questions that probably don't even cross the minds of your average 2-3 year old (such as the "girls are just as good as boys" theme)-- your girl won't... more info
