Spellbinding:

After years of listening to Enya's music on the radio and loving it, constantly tuning stations to see if it was being played, I decided to get of my backside and buy a CD. This Best-Of compilation seemed the most obvious CD to buy first and I can say it was worth every penny.

Some of the most disitinctive songs: The opening track is unique in every way, still captivating 12 years after it's release. Though Orinoco Flow is easily her most famous song, it's probably not her best, Carribean Blue first seems... more info

I tend to dislike "best of" collections quite a bit. For most artists, when the radio hits are removed from their albums and placed altogether, the music's effect is diminished considerably. Great albums are ones that flow together, giving each track its place and, through proper sequencing, increasing its effect. That this album is so good says a lot about the strengths and weaknesses of Enya as an artist.

When I first saw/listened to an Enya video (Orinocco Flow) on television back in the early 90's/late 80's - I thought she was... ...nice... ...but a wee bit...whacked. Or tootie-fruitie. Or whatever. With all the "...hoo! hee! ooh! ahh! oh! hoo! ahh! ee! oh! hoo!, etc." lyrics...
