'Dangerous Liaisons' which was based upon Choderlos de Laclos' epistolary novel 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses' and adapted for the stage by Christopher Hampton [Hampton also wrote the screenplay] is definitely one of my favourite films although not without its flaws. Sharing the same interest in intriques and manipulation the Marquise de Merteuil (Glenn Close) and the Vicomte de Valmont (John Malkovich) do feel some kind of mutual understanding, kinship and attraction for one another. Now the two of them create a diabolic plot just for the pleasures given by revenge, obtaining redress and to maintain one's self.
