Much More Than A Super Suspense Thriller!!:

Once I began this extraordinary book, I could not put it down. "The Da Vinci Code" is so much more than a gripping suspense thriller. Dan Brown takes us beyond the main plot and leads us on a quest for the Holy Grail - a Grail totally unlike anything we have been taught to believe. A very so-so read.....:

The book starts off interestingly enough, but lapses into a breathlessly conspiratorial style of story-telling that gets pretty tiresome after awhile. Brown's penchant for throwing in explanations of myriad bits of symbology, apparently for entertainment rather than embellishment, eventually proves distracting, too. Furthermore, the plot device of the "evil Church" ruthlessly and violently suppressing information supposedly "dangerous" to its existence is getting pretty over-used these days. A page-turner that educates too:

While fundamentalists will find this book heresy, the rest of us who understand that history is written and re-written by those in power and seeking power will simply enjoy this book as a book. So, as a book, I must say it kept me reading until the wee hours of the night. It's not super complex and epic like "The Eight," which is why I only gave it 4 stars, even though enjoyment wise it is definitely a 5, indeed, the action takes place over about two days total.
